8 ways to being content with God

Hebrews 13:1-9

Heb 13:1  Let brotherly love continue.

1. Hospitality - Duty to strangers. Distributing to the necessity of the saints. Rom 12:13, 1Tim 3:2, Titus 1:8, 1 Pe 4:9, #5381 & #5382 Strongs Concordance. 
Greek: “Philonexia” philantropist, a giver, hospitable, fond of guests.

Heb 13:2  Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. AND Heb 13:3  Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body.

2. Sympathy & Compassion - Mt 9:36 #4697 Greek splagchnizomai = bowels, yearning, pity. Being so moved for something that you felt/feel it deep in the pit of your stomach.  {Used 12 times in Matt, Mk and Lk.}
Heb 13:4  Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.

3. Purity - #47 Greekhagneia’ purity, cleanliness, good quality, sanctify, make new, purify thyself.

Heb 13:5  Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

4. No coveting, be content - #714 Greek “arkeo” pronounced “ar-kay-o” To be or have enough, content, suffice, sufficient. We quote Ph. 4:19 but do we really mean it? Are we satisfied?

Heb 13:6  So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

5. Security w/God - Acts 17:9 secure/securing. #2425 Greek = “hiko” coming in season, good enough, great, large, long, many, meet, worthy, sufficient, able to meet the need. 

Heb 13:7  Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation.

6. Reverence for God and God’s things or people. #1788 Greekentrepo  Respect, regard, educate, nourish up in, good sense.

Heb 13:8  Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and for ever. 

7. Duplicate (imitate) Jesus - #5179 #5262tupos” Greek Be a good example. Fashion, feature, form, manner, print, pattern, resemble. 

Heb 13:9  Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein.

8. Have doctrinal stability.  #3056 #1322 #1319 Greek Bosheth” Steadfastness, moving forward, endure hardship, persevering to the end. preach, publish, good tidings, cause, motive, matter, intent, speech, work. (RevEssie's Blog) (Ministry Site)
